Analog Device Philosophy: Turntables have to follow a few general guidelines in order to perform at the audiophile level. First turntables have to be built to extremely close tolerances. Especially with belt driven tables a sight modulation in the circumference of the platter will cause inaccuracies in audio reproduction. Second, tables must NOT transfer vibrations (be it feedback from the loudspeaker or normal seismic activity) since the stylus will pick up the slightest modulation in the glove of the record it is unwise to have a turntable that amplifies the surrounding environment. Third, the cartridge must be of good quality or the ladder two conditions are irrelevant. Avoid direct drive turntables, MM cartages, and solid stage phono preamps, as well as head amps (step-up transformers work much better).
